Sophie Smeets (1993) is an illustrator and animator. She is inspired by the ways we tell stories and tropes, such as characters, narratives, objects and spaces, that recur over and over again in literature, film and art in general. In a cartoonish style, she constructs situations with these figures of speech that are both recognizable and alienating and gives shape to the absurdity of everyday life.
