Frederique Peckelsen (1988) is a Frisian photographer who is always looking for the invisible magic of the earth. A sense of mystery, tension and loneliness come together in her pagan world with barren skies, where mankind is only a small part of the bigger whole. Since childhood, Frederique has been intrigued by nature and the folktales and myths about nature. As a child, she was convinced that nature reveals itself to us in a different way than it might actually be. As if the world we see is just a version of reality because nature itself and everything in it has its own soul. This view of nature as animate has greatly influenced her photographic style and is still the starting point for her work. It is an eternal quest for the Sublime, a search for places where the power of nature is still tangible and you can still sense her magic.
