Michiel Stock 'Pigeons over People'
Michiel (b. Netherlands in 1984) lives in Zandvoort, the Netherlands, together with his wife and daughter Coco. He makes his living as a professional photographer and filmmaker (autodidact) since early 2018.
His work moves between the paradigms of adventurous and artistic imagery, with a natural gravitation towards documentary making. His style can be defined as intuitive and playful, and results in frames full of spontaneous character, leaving room for interpretation and depth.
In his work, Michiel is naturally drawn to issues that relate to the social tension between us people and planet. With this approach in mind Michiel’s work attempts to raise questions around the psychological fabric between us humans and our habitat.
Pigeons over People
This image that was taken during the first lockdown of 2020. An empty Dam square remained home to its pigeons. The image conveys the inevitable idea of how man and nature drift apart.
