Hedy Tjin is an illustration designer from Amsterdam. Since graduating from the Academy of Visual Arts in Utrecht, her work has developed a distinctive recognisability. Whether it's murals, textile prints, illustrated books or a newspaper cover, Hedy is known for diverse expressions where her signature shape remains constant; powerful colors that express topics of social value. Driven by a desire to use her work as a vehicle for inclusivity and openness, her vibrant and radiant images aim to invite the public to explore complex subjects in an inviting and novel way. The ultimate goal for her is to combine an aesthetic that is appealing while also highlighting important underlying messages. The influence of cultural and ethnic issues is at the heart of Hedy's work, with strong references to the time spent in her native Suriname.
